Fall is the best time to plant native plants in Minnesota. Cooler temperatures and raising water tables mean less stress on new plants, giving roots time to establish before hard freezes without the heat of summer working against them. Fall planting gives plants a head start on spring which means, bigger, stronger and more floriferous plants next year. Come spring, they'll wake up already rooted in place and ready to take off. Less watering, less babying, better results.
