On Accessibility: We welcome customers of all walks of life, ways of being, ages and abilities. Unfortunately, our nursery is on unlevel ground and has many tight corridors and awkward passages. Our walkways are sometimes as narrow as 12-inches. If you have mobility issues or balance issues or if you are in a wheelchair, we are happy to shop for you. Our display gardens have 36-inch paths, please feel free to explore those.

On Pets: Dogs are not banned but we discourage customers from bringing them into the nursery. Our narrow passages and tight quarters make it logistically problematic. Also, please be respectful of other customers that may be uncomfortable around dogs. Feel free to keep dogs in the front yard. We have dogs and chickens on our premises. We keep them contained during business hours.

In Brief: We are small nursery that is independently owned and operated by our family with help from a small team of sub-contractors. Our plants are grown OUTDOORS without the use of a greenhouse, as a result our plants “wake-up” and/or germinate later than most greenhouse grown stock. This minimal infrastructure lowers our carbon footprint but also creates limitations for our catalogue and the timing of availability. As a result, many of our plants are not ready for sale until June or even well into August, so check-in regularly or send us an email with questions about plants you are looking for.

We specialize in growing wild-type native plants from the Midwest with a focus on Minnesota Eco-regions. A vast majority of our plants are grown from seeds that we collect in Dakota County. However, sometimes we purchase seeds from other verified seed vendors in Minnesota that grow regionally appropriate eco-types. Even less frequently we do purchase plants for resale from trusted wholesale nurseries located in the Midwest and Northeast who sell regionally adapted plants.

Please feel free to ask about plant provenance, we are open and transparent about where our plants come from.

Thanks for giving our little nursery a gander.
