Its reputation precedes it however that notoriety may come with some misconceptions. While it is technically a monarch host plant, it might fall lower on the list of their desired plants. Worry not, many insects enjoy its nectar. It's also beloved by gardeners around the US, this plant is many things to many different people and many different places. Here in the Midwest, it dwells on sandy or rocky dry hills. A long-term resident with a lease up to 50 years at least. In over nutritious soils, overcrowded boarders or too much shade it will quietly bow out. We ironically treat this plant as an annual in our nursery because it never survives winter in the pot. But get it in the right place and it will outlive you.

Not many orange flowers in our palate, so soak it up. Pair with white flowers for a power-up.
