Grower’s Choice Butterfly Village Kit

Inspire your inner child by chasing butterflies on a sunny day. Build a butterfly village with this kit that supports the whole butterfly life cycle. Unfortunately, it’s not enough to just give the butterflies something to eat, we need to give them a place to lay their eggs and hide from predators. Enter Host Plants, like Milkweeds, Golden Alexanders, Pussytoes and many more. Insects rely on these plants for food, shelter and nurseries. Support relationships that took millennia to build and plant this kit, when you do you will get flowers from spring to fall and hang a welcome sign for black Swallowtails (Papilio glaucus), American Painted Ladies (Vanessa virginiensis), Monarchs (Danaus Plexippus) and many more butterflies, skippers and moths you never knew existed.

This kit requires Full Sun conditions with Medium to Dry moisture conditions.

Recommended for 30 - 50 sq. ft.

*If 3.5" stock runs short, you may receive two 2.5" POWER PLUGS for any one missing 3.5" plant — same value, just smaller pots.

If you bought these plants individually, you would spend $135 for the same 18x 3.5” plants, or $126 for 36x POWER PLUGS  — so the kit saves you money right away despite the size of the pot you receive.

Why we changed our Grower’s Kit format from 2025 to 2026? Previously, our kits used a higher number of 2.5” Power Plugs. They were great plants, but we found that newcomers to gardening struggled with spacing, layout, installation and maintenance with such small starts. The 2026 kits now features larger 3.5" pots because they lead to higher success rates! Typically, bigger pots = quicker establishment, faster bloom time and a smoother experience for first‑time native gardeners without breaking the bank on gallon sizes you get at most conventional garden centers.

There's only one hitch…we pick the plants. Just like chef's choice in a restaurant, you ask the expert to curate the best selection for you. The plants in your kit will be based on current inventory, prioritizing a multi-season bloom range with a variety of leaf textures and complementary flower colors.

Don’t be!

We will label the plants in three categories: “Matrix”, “Seasonal Interest” and “Structural”. Start by arranging the structural plants 36-48” apart and then fill in the gaps with the matrix and the seasonal interest selections planting them 12-18” on center. Easy, Peasy, Lemon Squeezy.
