Maximilian Sunflower (Helianthus Maximiliani)

The best native sunflower...not my personal favorite sunflower but objectively the best. It used to cover the tall grass prairie from Canada to Texas before we tilled it all up and threw cows on top. Essential food for dozens of species of insects and birds. Loves sun and dry areas but grows great in clay and wetter areas.
